几只古董粮食袋(Antique Grain Sack)终于从法国寄来。
这些美丽的大麻、麻混织的袋子的历史可以追溯到60-150年前,是当时的农人用来盛装自家种植的燕麦或面粉,送到加工厂或售卖处之后,粮食袋会返还到出产的农人手中。为了易于辨认,每一只都不一样,有的还绣上了姓氏或所住乡镇的名字,全部手工织成。
直至今天,它们仍然惊人地美丽。很多设计师把它们改成枕头、靠枕、沙发面。。。改头换面却仍然作为独特的传家宝存在。来自广袤农田的麻袋子,毫不矜贵,但并不是起居室的配角,这是那种东西——看一眼,觉得心动,十年之后,几十年之后,你会为没有错过它感到幸运。

Shopper's Diary: Lost & Found Shop in Beijing

A reader sent in a tip about Lost and Found, a stylish store in the Chaoyang district of Beijing owned by ex-pat American Paul Gelinas and local Xiao Mao. Housed in a former dumpling shop, the store's offerings include vintage finds, furniture, and clothing. While many Chinese embrace the modern furnishings at Ikea, Gelinas and Mao look for value in everyday pieces from the past. To that end, the pair have taken some classic Chinese chair designs (think mid-century bureaucracy) and had them locally reproduced as limited editions.
